Wells Fargo Private Client Services launches a shared web-based calendar for 6000 employees.
Wells Fargo Private Client Services (PCS) combines Brokerage, Trust and Private Banking services for Wells Fargo Bank, and has over 6,000 employees in hundreds of offices across the United States.
PCS wanted a central calendar system to communicate corporate, regional and business line events to all of the staff. They also wanted to reduce scheduling conflicts between groups.
Some of the requirements included:
- Visually scroll through the calendar by month.
- Filter events shown to a user by utilizing "channels". Business line and location are two of the channels users subscribe to.
- Have submit and approval mechanisms for events.
- Audit log all changes.
- Automatically highlight holidays.
- Allow for recurring events.
- Copy events to a user's Outlook calendar.
Since Wells Fargo uses Microsoft Exchange for email, TitaniumSea first tried to leverage Outlook and Public Folders. Unfortunately, the "channel" filters made this solution unworkable.
An ASP.Net web site was ultimately developed (as seen to the right):
The simple interface hides the complexity of managing shared calendars for a huge number of users using filters and dynamic html.
